Sandy Tolan’s article about the protesters of the North Dakota pipeline delighted me because despite the tensions and wars waging around the world, there are still instances of justice and unity evident in humanity.

Due to the selfish desires of an oil company, both native and nonnative people from all over the country travel from as far as Canada to stand together and support the Native Americans whose land was being taken advantage of by a Fortune 500 company called Energy Transfer.

This act of generosity and kindness demonstrate the kinder side of humanity that allow people to connect in hopes of reaching a common goal, which in this case is to prevent the completion of the crude oil pipeline that threatens the well-being of the Standing Rock Sioux reservation.
